FORMER WWF WRESTLER, ACCLAIMED AUTHOR MICK FOLEY TO LECTURE AT SRU

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Mick Foley, best known to wrestling fans as “Cactus Jack,” “Mankind” or “Dude Love” and to avid readers for his New York Times Bestseller “Have a Nice Day,” will present a lecture detailing his life and his love of wrestling at Slippery Rock University on Nov. 5.

The event, set for 8 p.m. in the University Union, is sponsored by SRU’s University Program Board. Admission is free for the SRU campus community; $3 for the general public.

Michael Francis Foley was born in East Setauket, Long Island, and attended State University of New York at Cortland. He trained at Dominic DeNucci’s wrestler’s school before joining the WWF, from which he retired in 2000 following a loss at “WrestleMania.”

26 Weeks on Times List

His autobiography, written in longhand with pen and paper, made The Times’ bestseller list in December 1999 and stayed on the list 26 weeks. He also wrote two New York Times best-selling children’s books “Mick Foley’s Christmas Chaos” and “Mick Foley’s Halloween High Jinx.” His novel “Tietam Brown” was released last July.

Foley also appeared in the film, “Beyond the Mat” and on television, including “Good Morning America,” “Larry King Live,” “20/20,” “World News Tonight with Peter Jennings,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” “Live with Regis and Kelly” and “Who Wants to be a Millionaire.”
